MUBI

I study Cine y TV and I’m always looking for information about movies, directors and actors. I look for movies to see online too. So, I enjoy visiting MUBI, this page is very complete. It has the Film section, where I can find a lot of films, but it has a cost: US$1.99. There are a few free movies too. MUBI has a section with information about festivals, like Cannes, Venice, Bafici and Sundance. Also, the page has a Forum and people can comment, and interact with others with the same likes.

MUBI has two sections I love more: Notebook and Garage.

Notebook is a digital magazine about cinema, classical and independent films. Garage is a section where all the independent directors can participate, cooperate about their projects, and share content.

I love this page because it always has something new and different.

Buffalo '66

The last movie I saw was Buffalo ’66. I saw it, in my home, last week because I had to change a scene for my script class. Vincent Gallo is the director of the movie and he plays the main character too, Billy Brown. Christina Ricci plays Layla. Billy Brown just leaves jail and he needs to pee. So, he tries to find a bathroom, and arrives to a tap school dance, and knows Layla. He kidnaps her because he needs a wife to present to his parents. Layla, doesn’t have any rejection. And here they start an unusual relationship.

I really like this movie, because I like this kind of relation between two persons. Billy Brown never accepts any sign of affection from Layla, because he always was an alone guy. But, he finally realized he can be loved.

My camera

I usually don’t use technology, like mp3 or Ipod. I have a cell phone that I use a lot, but I really hate it. I think my favorite piece of technology is my photo camera. I saved money during a year to buy it. When I finally got it, it was very pleasant. I take it with me every day. I use it in the university, in my home, in every place I go. I love to take pictures, but the real purpose of my camera is that I can record on video. I like to walk and observe places and situations, then, I can record what I want. It’s a digital camera, so, when I don’t like the image I just eliminate it.

Now, my purpose is to buy more accessories for my camera, like grip, remote control, parasol, filter, etc.

WAR

One of my favorite bands is WAR. They play funk, soul, jazz and reggae music. I think their most popular songs are “Low Rider” and "Why can't we be friends?", but they have a lot of 70's hits. Yesterday, I heard the complete album "The World is a Ghetto", and I love them more. This album is more instrumental and very funky, but they always introduce the multicultural features.

Their lyrics regularly present the social subject, a characteristic that all the bands in the 70’ have. My favorite song of this album is the one with the same name. I can close my eyes and feel every instrument. I can start moving very slowly and enjoy every single note.

My bio

My name is Catalina Paz Guzmán Osorio. I was born on the 30th January 1987 in Santiago, Chile.

I went to three different elementary schools: Instituto Talagante, Santa Ana de Chena and Santa Ursula. In high school, I moved to Sagrados Corazones. Then I went to Universidad Católica and I studied Journalism, but I left it. Now, I'm studying Cine y TV in Universidad de Chile.

My parents are Patricio and Nancy. I have one brother and one sister, they called Patricio and Sofía. We live in the limits of the city, between San Bernardo and Maipú. We tried to have a self sustainable life.

I love to make things with my own hands. My hobbies are vitraux and binding. I love to write, so I make my own notebooks. I love to swim, dance salsa and cycling too.
